    Professor Farhad Hafezi, chief medical officer at the ELZA Institute, Zurich, Switzerland, spoke to Optometry Today  about the future of cross-linking and treating bacterial keratitis at the slit lamp

    He spoke about C-eye, the only device on the market today that can be mounted at the slit lamp, and how this will enable a transition from performing CXL and PACK-CXL in an operating room, into places like a procedure room – reducing both costs and administrative burden. Further, he noted that this trend will help “democratise CXL” by making CXL and PACK-CXL both more affordable and portable – bringing this sight-saving technology to regions where hospitals are scarce.
