What is the future of CXL?

Corneal cross-linking (CXL) has been used in the clinic for over 20 years now, but if you ever wanted to know what the future of CXL is, then it is worth reading a recently published review article on the topic, co-authored by Prof. Farhad Hafezi, published in the open-access journal, Frontiers in Pharmacology (1).

Whether it?s transepithelial or epithelium-on CXL, cross-linking thin corneas, customized refractive CXL (CurV)  or even the treatment of corneal infections (using a procedure called photoactived chromophore for keratitis-CXL, or ?PACK-CXL?), performed in the operating theater or even at the slit lamp with the C-eye cross-linking device from EMAGine, then this article comprehensively explains everything from the basic science to the latest clinical trial results.
